Companies want to ensure a product idea works, and that it is feasible to produce, before committing further to the process. Product design includes assessing and developing products with solid Design for Manufacturing (DFM) concepts, ease of assembly, function and strength of component parts, and designing a product useful to the consumer. Product design also includes 3-D modeling, structural analysis, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), design automation along with drafting, detailed design, engineering analysis, tooling and other design support functions.
We use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in tandem with product development and design. FEA involves highly sophisticated computer analysis to calculate stresses on materials in the products we develop. We also use FEA when making design modifications.
Building Information Modeling (BIM) involves the processes of creating and handling digital demonstrations of projects. You can utilize the BIM process throughout the operational lifetime of a building. All trade installations appear in our 3-D BIM to help highlight potential clashes or interferences among systems. BIM simplifies the entire design and drafting process. For instance, altering any object automatically updates and changes the other dependent objects. Projects that utilize BIM technology are more precise, economical, and higher quality than non-BIM projects. Automated drawing and report generation, schedule simulations, facility management and design analysis reduces errors, conflicts between the trades, and redundancies in design. People, tools and tasks share information better throughout the process. The client company can make better decisions and avoid miscommunications, data loss and transitional errors.
Coordination drawings compile several construction trade blueprints into one composite drawing. Coordination drawings were not mandatory for all projects in the past, and few people realized their importance. Now they are required for nearly every project. They help identify and avoid potential system conflicts during the trade installations, allowing work to proceed efficiently. HVAC drawings, for instance, show installed ductwork in both horizontal and vertical dimensions. This allows builders to avoid interference with structural framing, ceilings, partitions, lights, other mechanicals, fire protection, electrical and equipment.
Pipe fabrication drawings are very beneficial for mechanical piping & plumbing projects. These drawings allow you to cut and fabricated your larger pipes in your shop, and then bring the pipe spool sections ready-to-install to the job site. Fabricators can create the pipe spool pieces in their shop, and spend less time in the field during the installation, where it is less efficient to fabricate. On these drawings, we provide the installers with a detailed plan for assembly, with each piece of pipe numbered in the entire system, saving time and money for the contractors. We resolve the potential issues during the drawing phase, reducing confusion and questions from field installers, saving even more time and money.
